The reasons people have for returning to school after a lengthy absence differs widely from person to person. Reasons such as the empty nest syndrome, increasing income capability or fulfilling lifelong dreams are among the top reasons listed by older students surveyed at Western.
I sat across from her with a puffed chest and wine drowned, glassy eyes to proudly say, "I am waiting for that one great piece of design that can change the world," only to have her stare back. Her face was expressionless and distant. I arrogantly wondered if this is what it felt like, to awe someone much, much higher on the ladder than you.
The newest theatrical feat at Western was "The Three Musketeers" that opened May 28 in Rice Auditorium. The show was jam-packed with sword fighting, choreographed numbers to music including dancing and sword play, and yes, beat-boxing. Set in Paris, France, the plot stays true to the traditional Three Musketeers, but adds in a little more spunk and the occasional light-hearted vulgarity.
