In the last edition of the WOJ, James Bylot felt the need to dump on the paper and some of the people who write for it.  He wrongly insulted the paper and the people I work with and I feel the strong urge to set him straight.

First, if you hate the WOJ, don’t read it.  Western offers students the New York Times for free; I suggest you stick your nose in that from now on.

Second, your opinions of Ms. Perry, Ms. Kuehnel, and Mr. Walker are wrong.  It’s obvious you don’t know these people at all.

Ms. Perry is an amazing woman on this campus.  I know this because I know her.  While you may feel that her past column about not littering is stupid, I feel differently.  Until I stop seeing pop cans and mattresses on the side of the freeway, Americans still need to be told not to litter.  You should thank Nicole for addressing littering in the thoughtful manner that she did.

Ms. Kuehnel is the opposite of your “holier-than-thou” description of her.  She writes honestly and openly and even tackles tough issues like petroleum use.  She should be respected for her work.

Mr. Walker also deserves more than you gave him credit for.  He offers his opinion on sports matters and for people like me who don’t watch SportsCenter, I find it interesting.

Lastly, if you feel that the WOJ needs help, why don’t you do something about it instead of just pointing a judgmental finger at it from a distance?
