Poorly Drawn Comic belittles women
What a shame. After I opened the latest Western Oregon Journal, and saw the trash that you guys are publishing, I am ashamed to be in any way associated with Western Oregon University. I guess I just don't get it. With every single Journal, the Poorly Drawn Comic gets more crude. Personally, i don't see the humor...at all. The sad part, is that I can mentally picture the guys that do this, cackling to themselves at the latest "controversy" that they have brewed up. Unfortunately, they have done so by totally abusing any "free speech" rights that this country has given them. You call it journalism, I call it garbage. You call it "free speech", i call it a total mockery of our rights as Americans. Martin Luther King, Jr. was free speech. Our founding fathers were free speech, among a host of others. They used their rights to free speech to produce results-- to accomplish a goal. How many Americans have died defending those rights and freedoms? Meanwhile, you sit and make a total mockery of their efforts. What a shame. The saddest part: I am a man. And I am willing to bet that not one other letter to the editor is from a woman. THE WOJ IS TEARING WOMEN DOWN, GIRLS! I have yet to read a single "Comic" that does not, in some form, portray women as sex objects, or mindless pieces of meat, made only for the satisfaction of man. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF! And, just for the record, (referring to other WOJ articles) this is not the kind of feedback you want as a journalist! Any feedback is NOT good feedback! When you receive a letter, praising you for a well-written article, THAT is good feedabck. Have a little sense of pride for yourself as a writer and for the school you represent. Do us all a favor, clean it up, kick the "Comic" to the curb, and stop writing trashy articles in the name of "free speech" and controversy.
