For the last four years, the Western Oregon Volleyball team has been anchored by Claire Carpenter. This year has been no different for the senior, except for one thing: this year she has helped to guide the Wolves to a 16-7 record, an improvement over last year's 7-19.

In her career at Western, Carpenter has accumulated 1100 digs, not including this year's running total of 424 digs. As a sophomore, she averaged 4.83 digs a game which is the fourth all time highest at Western. As a junior and a senior, Carpenter was named to the All Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team while continuing her stellar play.

Last weekend, Carpenter helped the Wolves finish their home schedule undefeated against Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks. During the two games Carpenter collected 41 of Western's 146 total digs. Carpenter had a match high 27 digs against Alaska while piloting the Wolves to a come-back win. Then on Saturday Nov. 3, Carpenter led the Wolves in a three game sweep of Alaska Anchorage.

Her leadership has been a key factor to Western's success this year and the team will need it in games against Western Washington on Nov. 8, and Central Washington on Nov. 10. If things go well for Carpenter and the No. 8 ranked Wolves they could clinch a spot in the Pacific Region playoffs with 56.5 percent. (Statistics courtesy of WOU wolves) •
