You have been busy with class and midterms, not paying attention. You don't really follow football. Whatever your reason, now is the time to take a look at your Western Oregon Wolves football team! The Wolves will host Humboldt State at 1 p.m. this Saturday in a bid for a regular season finish of eight wins and two losses. Not since 1985 has a Wolf football team won that many games in a season. The game will also be a farewell for eighteen outgoing seniors, who have now also guaranteed themselves consecutive winning seasons for the first time since the 1980's.

This will be the second game of this season that has matched up Western Oregon and the Humboldt State Lumberjacks; in October, the Wolves beat Humboldt on their home turf in Arcata, California by the convincing score of 27-3. The 'Jacks will look for a bit of revenge as well as a bright spot at the end of their season. They currently have two wins and seven losses.

Western Oregon is riding a wave of success this season, with each of their wins coming by an average of 21 points. Not only would a win give the Wolves the best record in over 20 years, it would also improve Western's chances of a postseason. There are two possible ways this could happen.

If the Wolves finish the

season ranked in the top six of the NCAA regional poll, they would be qualified for NCAA post-season play. They are currently outside the top 12 in ranking, despite having a better record than five of the teams on the current list. If the NCAA ranking still falls through, the Wolves also have a good chance at going to the Rotary Bowl, held at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah. The top independent team from the West will travel to Utah in order to face off against the highest ranking team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference that doesn't make the normal NCAA playoffs.

Either way, this has been a memorable season for the Wolves. Come out to McArthur Field this Saturday and cheer on your Wolves - they deserve it.•
