Western Oregon's Basketball teams have been on the road. The men played at St. Martin's on Feb. 2 while the women took on Montana State University Billings on Jan. 31, and the Seattle University Redhawks on Feb. 2. The women have been showing improvement from last year while the men have struggled, showing flashes of great play.

The Lady Wolves dropped both games against Montana and Seattle. In Montana, visiting Western Oregon shot just 30 percent on the night, going 22 percent in the second half. Against Seattle the Wolves shot just 29 percent from the field and were only four out of 20 from three-point range (20 percent). They were helped though by 29 Seattle turnovers although the Redhawks had a 42-33 rebound edge. With the losses, the Wolves fall to 5-13 on the season and to 1-8 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Western's men had a 45-30 rebound edge as they out muscled Seattle on the road. Mike McLaughlin led all scorers with 23 points, and he posted a double-double with 11 rebounds. Liam Hughes also had a double-double with 11 points, 13 boards and three blocked shots, while Sam Kelly (15) and Travis Kuhns (11) were also in double digits. The win makes the Wolves' record 10-8 on the season and 3-6 in the GNAC.

This weekend the Lady Wolves take on St. Martin's in the first game of a double header here in Monmouth at 5 p.m. in the New PE building while the men take on Central Washington at 7 p.m. •
