Flashing lights, booming bass and the sea of black and red was the scene at the Black and Red AIDS Benefit Ball on Thursday, Feb. 7. "The turnout is much higher than last year," said Triangle Alliance's president, Melissa Lee. An estimated one hundred people attended the event. Tables and presentation boards were set up with educational facts about AIDS, HIV and other various informational pamphlets.

The event raised an estimated $300 for the Cascade AIDS Project.Energy from the crowd was high the entire night despite a few technical glitches from the DJ equipment. Members of Triangle Alliance entertained the crowd with a sneak preview of this year's Triangle Alliance Drag Show. The crowd responded very positively toward the preview and one member of the mob responded, pledging, "I will definitely be going to see it!" The show will be performed sometime this spring.

Overall the event was filled with high spirits and great dancing. Anyone who decided to spend their time elsewhere on Feb. 7 would have had a more fun experience at the Black and Red Ball.•
