Jacque Postlewait achieved personal bests in three different events during the two-day Willamette Invitational held in Salem on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6.
Postlewait, a junior from Canby, Ore., won the 100 hurdles with a career-best of 14.63 seconds. Her time also ranks third on Western's all-time career list. Postlewait's is the second fastest time for a Wolf in that event in a 38-year history, superseded only by a school-record time of 14.15 set by Monica Smith in 2005.
She also finished third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04:85. It is Postlewait's first year running hurdles, but her time already ranks her sixth on Western's all-time top ten list. Rounding out her achievements, Postlewait also placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 17-9 ¾, a personal best that places her ninth in Western's record books.
Western also saw personal bests from distance runners and several of Western's throwers appeared at the top of the results list. Sabrina Freed (168-5) took first in women's hammer, followed in second by teammate Sara Cole (155-2). For the men, Anthony Marin earned second place in the hammer with a throw of 172-0.
For the runners, freshman Lyndsey McKillip improved her NCAA Division II national provisional qualifying time in the steeplechase with a time of 11:17:93 and a third place finish. Freshman Ashley Berry ran a time of 2:15:91 in the 800 meters, a personal best and the eighth fastest time in that event in Western history. Sophomore Braxton Jackson earned a fifth place spot in Western's all-time 10,000 meter rankings with a time of 31:54:32.
Western's team will be split next weekend for meets on Saturday at UCLA and Lewis and Clark. •
