Saturday's softball game against Saint Martin's was rained out. Western announced late Tuesday that the conference match-up would be rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15. The double-header will be at the Western softball field, starting at 2 p.m.
Saint Martin's is one of the most improved teams in the GNAC conference. Martin's finished last season with a 4-37 record and are now at 15-20 overall 3-5 in the conference. Martin's star, Holly Morris leads the conference with 11 home runs and 32 RBI's. Saint Martins broke a 20-game losing streak against the Wolves with their win in March. However, Western still leads the all-time series 38-10.
Softball head coach, Pam Knox was confident going into last weekend's game, "I thought we played pretty solid throughout the tournament, especially in the area of pitching and defense. We saw the best of the teams in the west and we know where we need to be. We are excited to get back to conference play and go after the GNAC title."
The Wolves softball team will have another league doubleheader this weekend when they travel to Bellingham, Wash. on Friday, April 11, to play No. 10 regionally ranked Western Washington. The Wolves will then face off with No. 4 regionally ranked Seattle Redhawks on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's twinball will be a conference counter, while Sunday's single is a non-conference contest.
